Holiday Overview

Taste the tapas in Spain explore the mountainous landscapes of Lanzarote, cruise to Lisbon and of course spend some amazing days at sea while on P&O's impressive Ventura ship.

Explore five exotic ports on this cruise of a life-time. The first port of Funchal is known as the city of gardens, including the fantastic Madeira Botanical Garden. The Second port of Las Palmas is the Canaries largest city with a 2.5mile long beach making it a popular tourist destination. Visiting the picturesque Gran Canaria followed by the next port of the Lanzarote, famous for its volcano-clad landscapes, palm tree fringed beaches and clear blue waters.

After your cruise around the Canary Islands, there is still time for more! Your final port to experience is Lisbon. The unique architecture, tram's running up the many winding streets, and incredible food including a type of custard-tart only found here!

P&O Ventura was launched in 2007. This mid-sized ship had a multi-million pound face-lift in 2013, creating a luxurious cruise-liner with modern surroundings. The contemporary feel of the ship continues throughout its cabins, where burgundy and cream décor is accented by dark wood fixtures and finishing touches by British designer Nick Munro.

Day 5 - Madeira, Portugal

< >

Cruise visitors here will discover that the market town is easily walkable although, the further inland you explore, the steeper and narrower some of the streets become. Locally made wicker furniture, lacework and tapestries all make good buys along with the ubiquitous Madeira wine. Funchal is also the base for tours to the islands botanical gardens; the fishing village of Camara de Lobos where Churchill went to paint; Camacha, the wicker centre; the levada walks, part of an ancient irrigation system; and to Reids Hotel for traditional afternoon tea, making cruises to Madeira a must see.

Day 7 - Gran Canaria, Spain

Day 8 - Arrecife de Lanzarote, Spain

Day 8 - Arrecife de Lanzarote, Spain

< >

Lanzarote is synonymous with a sometimes-alien, always-striking natural beauty. Volcanoes and lava fields define the landscape, impossibly-shaped rocks perch on improbably balanced outposts and black sand beaches compete with traditional, tropical palm-lined coast for your attention. A UNESCO Geopark, the island is a fascinating destination that enchants and enthrals all visitors to its volcanic shores.

Ventura will dock in Arrecife, the island’s capital, and you’ll have the entire day to enjoy its sun-washed plazas, cool bars and atmospheric backstreets. If you’re looking for a little bit of local culture, check out the Museo Internacional de Arte Contemporáneo, which features several works from the island’s most influential artist, César Manrique.

Day 10 - Lisbon, Portugal

Day 10 - Lisbon, Portugal

< >

Some of the best views of the Portuguese capital come as your ship cruises along the Tagus River. You pass the Belem Tower and the impressive Monument to the Discoveries with its statue of Henry the Navigator before arriving at the Lisbon cruise port. Although small for a European capital, this city does sprawl a little so you would do best to concentrate on three districts - Baixa, Bairro Alto and Alfama, each with its own distinctive style, making Lisbon cruises a must see.
