Travel, Settling In & The Northern Lights
For the next five days, you’ll be staying in a wheelchair friendly hotel with spacious, accessible rooms and bathrooms equipped with roll-in showers. You’ll have the afternoon to settle in and enjoy a tantalising taste of Reykjavik, before heading out on a Northern Lights tour to catch one of nature’s most spectacular shows!
The Golden Circle
Later, we’ll head further south to visit one of Iceland’s biggest geysers, Strokkur. Capable of shooting water up to 40 metres into the air, the geyser typically erupts every 4-8 minutes, so you’ll have the opportunity to catch this awe-inspiring eruption more than once.
Our last stop in the Golden Circle is Gullfoss - the Golden Falls. One of the country’s most iconic natural landmarks and a spectacular sight, the waterfall gets its name from the way the glacial sediment takes on a golden shine when it catches the light in sunnier weather. On the way back to the hotel, we’ll stop off at Kerið, a 3000-year-old volcano crater that’s now filled with water. Its vivid red slopes and striking aquamarine waters make it the perfect end to a wonderful day.
Reykjavik’s old harbour is a good place to start your day of discovery. With a whole host of world-class museums in the vicinity, including the Maritime Museum, the Northern Lights Centre and the Whales of Iceland exhibition, you’ll get a great feel for the city while also learning a little about its history.
There’s also plenty of tempting cafés, bars and restaurants in which to grab a bite to eat. If you get the chance, take a look at Vladís - a local ice cream shop that makes its own ice cream every morning and has a wide range of wild and original flavours. Of course, the Limitless team will be on hand throughout the day to help ensure you receive all the support and assistance you require.
The Blue Lagoon
The lagoon is fully accessible, with special changing rooms, a pool access lift and special wheelchairs for the lagoon itself. The deepest part of Blue Lagoon is around 1.60m/5.2ft but most areas are far shallower, so you never feel out of your depth.
Over the course of the day, you’ll have plenty of time to relax, experience the rejuvenating powers of the Blue Lagoon's legendary waters and explore the breathtaking beauty of the moss-covered landscape. In the late afternoon, your guide will drive you back to the capital, where you can tuck into local delicacies at one of the city’s fabulous restaurants.
