Skjolden, Norway

< >

Skjolden is home to the UNESCO-listed Urnes Stave Church – the world’s oldest stave church – and the Jostedal Glacier, which is the largest glacier on European mainland. An idyllic port, the approach is by the picturesque Lustrafjord, the innermost branch of Norway’s longest and deepest fjord – the Sognefjord. The fjord has a distinct emerald green colour owing to melting water from the glaciers. Along the shoreline, you will see beautiful villages and lush cultural landscapes.

Olden, Norway

Olden, Norway

< >

Olden is blessed with a beautiful fjordic coastline, towering mountains and the biggest glacier on mainland Europe, Jostedalsbreen. There’s easy access to both the Briksdal and Kjenndalen glaciers, plunging dramatically into the valleys below. Crystal-clear Lake Oldevatnet is set among steep mountains and roaring waterfalls. In a nutshell, it’s Norwegian nature at its finest.

Alesund, Norway

Alesund, Norway

< >

Famous for its Art Nouveau architecture, Ålesund is the cultural centre of the Sunnmøre region. Enjoy a scenic cruise of Geirangerfjord before you disembark in the center of town. One stormy night a hundred years ago, the town burned down and was entirely rebuilt in Art Nouveau style with a varied cultural scene, exciting cafes and restaurants. This is your last, fantastic port in Norway before we begin to cruise across like the vikings to Iceland!

Akureyri, Iceland

< >

You might not have heard of Akureyri, the quiet trading post turned college town of less than 20,000 residents. The mountains surrounding the fjord, which Akureyri is in the bottom of, is called Eyjafjordur. It is the longest fjord in Iceland, or 60 km, the fjord that all ships have to go through, on the way to Akureyri.

Isafjordur, Iceland

Isafjordur, Iceland

< >

Welcome to your second Icelandic port! Some of Iceland's oldest and best-preserved buildings, dating from the 18th century, are located in Ísafjördur. The town is still predominantly a fishing centre. A vigorous and varied cultural and artistic scene flourishes in the town as well. Mountains surround Ísafjördur on the three sides and the sea on the other. The ancient settlement site of Eyri downtown is enclosed by the narrow Skutulsfjördur fjord, which shelters the harbour in all weathers.

Grundarfjordur, Iceland

Grundarfjordur, Iceland

Sailing into Grundarfjordur, one travels into Iceland's heroic past, for this township - village really - is one of the oldest settlements on the island. The imposing landscape with its austere mountains, volcanoes and lava fields provided the dramatic setting for one of Iceland's cultural treasures, the sagas

Reykjavik, Iceland

Reykjavik, Iceland

< >

The iconic city of Reykjavik is our final port. The burgeoning capital city of Reykjavik has seen a spike in international tourist attention over the past few years, and you’d be hard-pressed to ignore this effortlessly cool port of call on an Iceland cruise. The city is truly magical in the summertime, when the sun is out for longer than you’d ever imagine, and residents stay out late drinking and enjoying food, picnicking, and spending time in nature.
