From the historic fishing town of Vigo to the sun-kissed shores of Gran Canaria, Limitless Travel is taking you on a fantastic, fully accessible fourteen-day cruise to the Canary Islands. Departing from Southampton, you’ll sail south, across the Bay of Biscay and make your first stop in the Galician maritime city of Vigo.
Next on the list is the breathtakingly beautiful Portuguese island of Madeira, followed by the vibrant capital of Tenerife, Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Your second island in the Canary archipelago is culture-rich Gran Canaria, before we move on to the remarkable lava landscapes of Lanzarote. Throughout the journey, you’ll be staying on the fantastic Sky Princess cruise ship. One of the most modern Royal-class cruise ships currently on the water, it boasts fully accessible rooms and a wealth of first-class facilities. The staterooms you’ll be staying in benefit from wheelchair-turning space, an easy access closet, accessible writing desk and roll-in showers equipped with grab bars and a fold-down bench seat.
The ship also features a Movies Under the Stars outdoor theatre, a Broadway-style theatre, swimming pools, hot tubs, spa facilities and a beauty salon. Into the Bay of Biscay
Whether you want to catch a show, dine out on top-notch Italian food or relax and unwind at the revitalising Lotus Spa, there’s plenty to see and do on your days at sea. If you want more information on the Sky Princess’ facilities, don’t hesitate to get in touch with one of our trusted travel advisors.
Sky Princess will dock at Muelle de Transatlanticos, in the heart of the city. All you have to do is follow the picturesque, palm-tree-lined promenade and you’ll reach the centre. Vigo is famous for its lively tapas bars, so make sure you stop off for some small fish plates and a glass of wine while you’re exploring.
A word of warning though - despite the port allowing for immediate access to Vigo, the city centre is quite hilly in places. If you’re hoping to go for a wander, it’s a good idea to talk with the Limitless Team so as to avoid the worst of the climbs.
Of course, the Limitless Team will be on-hand throughout the day to help and support you, coordinate activities and ensure that you have a great day at sea. They’re a fantastic bunch, if we do say so ourselves, so don’t be afraid to ask them for anything you need or spend a bit of time chatting, they love the company!
Madeira (Funchal), Portugal
We’ll dock in the archipelago's capital, Funchal, giving you time to explore the city and discover its considerable charm. As well as taking a stroll through the gorgeous Old Town, make sure you stop at one of the many famous hotels that line the waterfront for a refreshing beverage or bite to eat. We would recommend Reid’s, which regularly hosted Winston Churchill on his visits to the island.
Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Canary Islands
There are free shuttles into the city - though it’s only 20 minutes on foot if you would prefer the walk. With an incredible array of street art, first-rate museums and galleries, mouthwatering restaurants and cool, quirky boutiques, the city is a delight to explore and you’ll be spoilt for choice. Make sure to talk to the Limitless Team if you’d like some pointers on what to see and do. With the ship not scheduled to depart Tenerife until 10 pm, you have plenty of time to enjoy spectacular Santa Cruz de Tenerife!
Gran Canaria (Las Palmas), Canary Islands
Boasting terrific access to the island’s cool capital, Las Palmas, the terminal is also only 100 metres down the road from Muelle, an extremely popular local shopping complex. If you want to head into the city centre, check out Vegueta, Las Palmas’ trendy old quarter. Prefer the beach? Playa de las Canteras is also within easy reach. You’ll be able to disembark at 8 am and the ship won’t leave until 10 pm, giving you a whole day to experience charming Las Palmas.
Lanzarote (Arrecife), Canary Islands
Sky Princess will dock in Arrecife, the island’s capital, and you’ll have the entire day to enjoy its sun-washed plazas, cool bars and atmospheric backstreets. If you’re looking for a little bit of local culture, check out the Museo Internacional de Arte Contemporáneo, which features several works from the island’s most influential artist, César Manrique.
Surrounded by seven hills, the romantic city centre is atmospheric, charismatic and simply a joy to explore. Whether you’re trying traditional bacalhau in a local bar, riding the trams around the city or visiting the iconic Torre de Belém, you’re sure to have an amazing time. The ship docks at 7 am and won't depart until 6 pm, ensuring you have a full day to explore this historic city. Our care team will be there to help you every step of the way.
With its incredible sets, performances by globe-trotting artists and combination of classic and contemporary programming, the Princess Theatre is a must-visit. If you haven’t had a good soak, massage or steam room session yet, then it’s time to hit the spa.
Until Next Time!
