The Awesome Arctic Circle

After a stop in Lerwick, capital of the Shetlands, you’ll head north to mountainous Molde, followed by the wildlife-rich waters of the Arctic Circle and Tromsø, with its famous Troll Museum. Honningsvag is Norway’s northernmost city, while a visit to Geirangerfjord means cruising down the iconic Geirangerfjord. Olden and Flåm are both located at the end of world-famous fjords, and your final stop, Haugesund, is the historic home of Viking kings.

At the Apex of Modern Cruising

From the 13-story, cantilevered Magic Carpet platform to the 20-foot-tall LED screen in the ship’s theatre, the Apex guarantees a truly contemporary cruise experience. With mouth-watering restaurants, atmospheric bars, a lift-accessed swimming pool, a relaxing wellness centre and onboard classes and activities, you’re never short of things to see and do.

Those guests staying in an accessible cabin will also benefit from Priority Embarkation. We know check-in and boarding can be a nervous experience for some travellers, so Limitless assists with every aspect. Day 2 At Sea

Exploring the Apex

Your first day at sea is all about exploring the ship and settling in. Typically, the Limitless Team meets with everyone in the morning to catch up over breakfast, make sure you had a comfortable night, discuss the day ahead, and plan activities. We often lunch and dine as a group as well, so you’re never short of company.

During days at sea, there’s plenty to see and do on the Apex. As a group, Limitless Travellers often enjoy a relaxed morning, followed by a group lunch and some afternoon fun - be it a theatre show or a movie. Then it’s time to get dressed up for a delicious dinner, followed by some fantastic evening entertainment. Of course, how you spend your day is entirely up to you! But it’s good to know that the Limitless Team and your fellow travellers are always around too.

Day 3 Lerwick, Scotland
Lerwick, Scotland
Port Visit

The capital of the Shetland Islands, Lerwick is the UK’s northernmost town and the gateway to the Shetland archipelago. Despite its diminutive size, it boasts a fascinating history. While Norse influences are clear in the town’s name - it is derived from the Old Norse words leir (mud) and wick (bay) - Lerwick originally started life as an illegal settlement established to service the Dutch herring fleets that fished in these waters.

Ashore, visitors can explore both the town and island’s past in Lerwick’s excellent museums, soak up the rugged coastal landscapes, or wander the local shops, cafes or pubs. Unfortunately, Lerwick is an anchor port that requires small tenders to reach shore, restricting access. However, Limitless Travellers who can’t disembark will still be able to enjoy the breathtaking scenery and world-class facilities aboard the ship. Learn more about anchor ports in our FAQs.

Day 4 Molde, Norway
Molde, Norway landscape image
Port Visit

Nestled between fjords and mountains, Molde is a charming Norwegian town known for its sweeping panoramas and vibrant gardens. Nicknamed The City of Roses, it offers a peaceful and scenic stop, with colourful blooms lining the streets during the warmer months and spectacular views across 222 snow-capped mountain peaks from the famous Varden viewpoint.

Whether you're exploring the accessible waterfront promenade, enjoying a coffee with a view, or simply soaking in the tranquil atmosphere, Molde is a gentle and beautiful introduction to everyday life in coastal Norway. The Limitless team will be on hand throughout the visit to offer support and assistance, ensuring you can relax and enjoy every moment.

Day 5 Arctic Circle
Celebrity Cruises Apex ship
Cruising

Crossing into the Arctic Circle puts us at the very edge of our ocean-going capabilities and situates you in a landscape dominated by ice, towering mountains and jagged, fjord-indented coastline. This is a seascape like no other - a place where the sun never sets in summer and the Aurora Borealis electrifies the sky. Cruising these cold waters is an experience you’ll never forget.

Fortunately, the ship is designed to ensure you get the most from your time in the Arctic Circle, too. With plenty of viewing spaces and all the comforts and luxuries you associate with modern cruise liners, it’s the best possible place from which to soak up and marvel at this incredible environment.

Day 6 Tromsø, Norway
Tromso Cathedral in Norway
Tromso
Port Visit

Though it’s a fair way north of the Arctic Circle, Tromsø boasts a remarkably mild climate for its latitude. While ice-free waters and westerly winds mean this vibrant city (it has the most bars per capita in all of Norway) may be a little warmer than usual, there’s still plenty of snow!

Tromsø is also home to several excellent accessible attractions, including the local Troll Museum. Trolls play a crucial role in Norwegian folklore and legend and this brilliant museum explains why while also introducing visitors to many of its most famous troll-related tales. Alternatively, the Polar Museum details the expeditions, adventures and everyday lives of Arctic explorers from the 17th century to the modern day.

Day 7 Honningsvag, Norway
Honningsvåg, Norway
Port Visit

A small fishing port and the gateway to the north, Honningsvag is technically Norway’s northernmost city despite only having a population of 2,245. Close to the rich fisheries of the Barents Sea, it is also a popular cruise port and a busy stop on the local public coastal route, up and down which ships ferry local passengers between towns.

The entry point to Norway’s Nordkapp (North Cape), the northernmost part of mainland Europe, Honningsvag is home to an excellent North Cape Museum, which details the region’s history, culture and significance. There are plenty of shops and restaurants to explore, too. Limitless Travellers can also arrange a private tour to the North Cape itself, though this will need to be organised independently.

Day 8 Arctic Circle
Arctic circle landscape walrus
Cruising

With a second day at sea in the Arctic Circle, you have another opportunity to enjoy these sensational surroundings. The icy landscape may seem unforgiving, but plenty of life thrives here. While you’re likely to see an impressive array of seabirds wheeling above the water, make sure you keep your eyes peeled for other creatures, too. Though it’s by no means guaranteed, it’s possible you will see walruses, seals, and maybe even polar bears.

A day at sea also means you can make the most of the ship’s facilities. So talk to your Tour Manager to check out what the group has planned and whether you want to organise any other activities for the day.

Day 9 Geiranger, Norway
Geiranger in Norway landscape image
Geiranger Norway
Port Visit

Carved from the rock over several ice ages, Geirangerfjord is one of the county’s most iconic fjords. Flanked by steep mountainsides and famed for its tumbling waterfalls, this is Norway at its most awesome. Keep your eyes peeled for the epic De Syv Søstrene (The Seven Sisters), Friaren (The Suitor) and Brudesløret (The Bridal Veil) falls, in particular.

Your port stop for the day is Geiranger, a small hamlet at the end of the fjord with a few restaurants and a much-loved troll sculpture. There are several shops where you can pick up souvenirs, too. However, the big draw is the cruising. Make sure you’ve got a good view for your arrival at and departure from the village, as it’s a truly memorable experience.

Day 10 Olden, Norway
Loen Skylift - Olden Norway
Limitless Excursion - Loen Skylift

Tucked at the end of the magnificent Innvikfjorden—one of Norway’s most breathtaking fjords—Olden is a charming village surrounded by dramatic mountains. The best way to enjoy the views is via the Loen Skylift, a cable car with step-free access and level boarding that carries you nearly 1,000 metres to the top of Mount Hoven. From the top, you’ll be treated to panoramic views of the fjord and surrounding peaks. Relax in the restaurant, complete with log fires and local cuisine.

For those who prefer to stay closer to sea level, Olden’s town centre is just a pleasant 15-minute stroll from the ship. You’ll find a selection of small shops, cafés, and bars—perfect for soaking up the peaceful atmosphere. Alternatively, you may wish to remain aboard and enjoy the ship’s first-class facilities.

Please note: The Loen Skylift’s operation is weather-dependent. If the attraction is closed upon arrival, this excursion may not be possible.

Day 11 Flåm, Norway
Flam, Norway landscape image

Port Visit

Spectacularly situated at the end of a branch of Norway’s longest and deepest fjord - the 205 km Sognefjord - Flåm is a small, picture-perfect village with sensational mountain views. Here, the highlight is just as much the epic approach along the fjord as the destination itself. Known as the ‘King of the Fjords’, the landscape’s towering mountains, tumbling waterfalls and lush green hillsides are majestic.

Compact but beautiful, Flåm is largely flat and accessible, and home to a local museum and several restaurants. It is also the departure point for the world-famous Flåmsbana Railway Line, though Limitless Travellers will have to book this independently as there are only two wheelchair spaces. Leaving Flåm, the ship will pass back through the gorgeous Aurlandsfjord and Sognefjord.

Due to its size, Flåm is sometimes an anchor port that requires small tenders to reach shore, restricting access. Learn more about anchor ports in our FAQs.

Day 12 Haugesund, Norway
Limitless cruise customers in Norway with staff
Port Visit

Welcome to Haugesund - home of the Vikings. Though the town itself is relatively young, the local area was a hotbed of Viking activity, and the first king of Norway, Harald Fairhair, lived just 8 km from the modern settlement. After disembarking the ship, we typically catch the accessible bus into the city centre to maximize your time there.

Known as the birthplace of modern Norway, Haugesund is a brilliant place to do some holiday shopping and its excellent restaurants ensure this stop is one for the foodies too. There’s also an accessible Hop-On, Hop-Off bus that takes you around all of the city’s main attractions. Finally, we would highly recommend visiting the fascinating Viking Planet museum to learn more about the area’s incredible history.

Day 13 At Sea

Sailing Home

By now, you will have spent a few days exploring the Celebrity Apex and enjoying the facilities, activities and entertainment. But we guarantee there are still things you’re yet to see, do or find. Have you visited the onboard photography centre? Booked in for the Le Petit Chef® experience? Booked in for a massage treatment at the fantastic spa and wellness centre?

As we make our way back to Southampton, this is a great opportunity to check out those parts of the Apex you’re yet to see or return to your favourite spots. Or just relax in total comfort and reminisce about the places you’ve seen over the course of your holiday. Have a chat with your Tour Manager in the morning and organise the perfect final day.

How does Limitless assist with check in and boarding?

Having met the Limitless Team at the port, we'll accompany you to the special assistance check-in. As it's separate from regular check-in, there are no crowds or lengthy queues.

You'll then be given a boarding time. Usually, we board as a group. However, if this isn't possible and you would like the assistance, we ensure a carer accompanies you onto the ship.

We board via the accessible gangway. This ramp connects the ship to the port. If you require support or assistance, both the Limitless Team and the ship's crew will be on hand to help. There are also manual wheelchairs available to make this transfer easier.

On some ships, the accessible gangway can be a little steep. In these instances, two crew members will provide support - one in front and one behind. You'll never be rushed and your safety and comfort are always the priorities.

Remember, you don't need to pre-book any special assistance at the port! We provide this assistance as standard with all Limitless cruises.

What is Limitless Group Support & Holiday Assistance?

In addition to this, our care team will also reach out to you three months before your holiday to confirm you have everything you need to travel with complete confidence.

What are anchor ports and is Limitless responsible for port changes?

At Limitless Travel, we carefully select cruise itineraries with minimal anchor ports. Anchor ports are those destinations where port logistics mean a small boat or ‘tender’ transport is required to ferry guests to shore. In the vast majority of cases, these tenders are not accessible and some Limitless Travellers will not be able to leave the ship.

Unfortunately, port changes can happen due to any number of reasons while at sea. Limitless Travel cannot be held accountable for any such port changes.

Which side of the ship is best for fjords?

On our Norwegian fjord cruises, both sides of the ship typically guarantee spectacular views of the fjords. However, selecting the “best” side of the ship often depends on the itinerary specifics.

Generally, the starboard (right-hand) side might be slightly better if you’re cruising north and the port (left-hand) side if you’re heading south. In both instances, this is because that side of the ship will spend more time facing the coastline.

Modern cruise ships are designed to maximize visibility and the open decks and public viewing areas guarantee everyone has access to striking 360-degree vistas. On Limitless Norwegian Fjords Cruises, there are always plenty of opportunities to use these facilities.

Is the sea rough in the Norwegian fjords?

The waters in the Norwegian fjords are generally much calmer than the open sea, thanks to the fjords' narrow and sheltered characteristics. This makes Norwegian fjord cruises an excellent choice for those concerned about sea sickness.

The cruise ship will be out on the open sea when travelling to, from and between fjords. Here, rougher seas are possible but entirely dependent on the weather, conditions, and season. Modern cruise ships are well-equipped with stabilisers to counteract rougher seas and minimise the motion you feel, ensuring a comfortable onboard experience.
