Top 5 Accessible Activities in Blackpool

By Iris Anil - 02/11/2018
One of Limitless Travel’s most popular tour destinations is Blackpool. More recently, this destination has been combined with a trip to the Lake District. So we would love to give you some top things to do while in this seaside town.

Blackpool Pleasure Beach

This is one of Britain’s most loved amusement parks. Blackpool Pleasure Beach isn’t just for the thrill seekers, there is something for everyone. Nickelodeon Land is perfect for kids while there is also a lot of family-friendly rides as well. There are a lot of shows that all have great accessibility so everyone can enjoy the show. Also, Blackpool Pleasure Beach always does their best to accommodate every single guest. Check out their access guide (click here) for descriptions of all their attractions, disabled facilities and more. Pleasure Beach also offers a limited number of wheelchairs for hire. All you need is a deposit of £20 and a £5 hire charge. Just simply go to the Information Desk, on the ground floor of the Ticket Centre, and availability will be checked.

Blackpool Tower

This iconic landmark can take you 380ft into the sky to the top of The Blackpool Tower. If you’re brave you can experience the thrilling SkyWalk. This involves walking out onto the five centimetre glass viewing platform, where you can gaze at the Irish Sea and the Blackpool Promenade below you. There are spectacular views in every direction! You can even see Liverpool, the Lake District and all the way down to the Isle of Man, only on a clear day though! The tower has number of lifts as well as two accessible toilets. The whole attraction is suitable for wheelchair users.

Blackpool Zoo

This is a fantastic, family friendly, award-winning attraction. There are over 1000 animals at this great zoo. Some disabled facilities and services include:
• Wheelchairs are available for free loan from Reception for a £10.00 refundable deposit.
• Discounted admission prices for disabled guests.
• Disabled toilet facilities are available throughout the zoo, a room for more personal care is located at Reception in the main entrance building.

Blackpool Beach

This is the perfect place to relax and take in the beautiful seaside view. It is one of the best beaches you will find in the UK. This is because of the fantastic scenery that surrounds the whole beach as well as the three piers across it. Sun, sea, sand, what more could you want?

Madame Tussauds Blackpool

Madame Tussauds is a great attraction, suitable for everyone. You can come face-to-face with some National Treasures and Hollywood stars. There is full disabled access throughout Madame Tussauds; however, only three wheelchair users per hour are permitted into the attraction (for Health & Safety reasons). Wheelchair time slots can be pre-booked in advance by contacting WheelChairBookings@merlinentertainments.biz. It should also be noted that the lifts are closed from July 2018-March 2019 as they refurbish. This means if you cannot use stairs you will be unable to visit the Best of British and Festival Fields areas. Although, all other areas are completely accessible.

Have you always wanted to visit Blackpool while feeling at ease with nothing to worry about? Then why not enquire about Limitless Travel’s upcoming Blackpool tour in 2019! Included in the tour are multiple activities like the Lake Windermere Boat Cruise and more! Want more top lists? Click here for our top 5 accessible attractions in Barcelona
