Immortalised in one of the UK’s most famous folk standards, Scarborough is Yorkshire’s largest coastal resort and an excellent base from which to explore the surrounding region. With its two crescent beaches, lively promenade and ruined 11th-century castle, it’s an iconic destination for holidaymakers looking to enjoy a traditional British beach getaway.
Further up the coast, picture-perfect Whitby offers a fascinating insight into the area’s maritime history, while also serving up some of the best fish and chips in the country and playing home to Whitby Abbey, the spooky inspiration for Dracula’s castle.
Your fully accessible Limitless holiday will also include a day in York - the county’s historic capital and a powerful and influential city throughout much of English history. Travel and Settling In
The Scarborough Fair Collection
In the afternoon, we’ll break for lunch at the tearooms and enjoy live entertainment featuring authentic dance organs from the 1800s. After, we’ll take some time out to stroll or roll along Scarborough Prom and browse the many shops that line the harbour-front. Reinvigorated by the fresh sea breeze, we’ll make our way back to the hotel for a fantastic dinner.
Whitby & Captain Cook
Once we arrive in Whitby, we’ll spend the morning learning about the town’s most famous maritime hero - Captain Cook. Having mastered his trade on Whitby waters Cook became one of the world’s best-known explorers, travelling to previously unknown corners of the planet and leaving a lasting scientific legacy.
Next, we’ll stop at Hadley’s Fish and Chips for a spot of lunch. A family-run business that’s served the greatest of British seaside treats since 1937, the restaurant is regularly voted the best in Whitby. After refuelling, we’ll visit the remarkable Whitby Abbey. The inspiration for Bram Stoker’s Dracula, the Abbey was constructed atop the cliffs in the 9th Century and boasts spectacular views of the coast.
York’s River Cruise & Railway Museum
When we arrive in the city, we’ll board an accessible river boat to cruise down the River Ouse and enjoy York from the water. Back on dry land, we’ll make our way to the National Railway Museum to discover the incredible impact the railways have had on British society. The visit also includes the opportunity to enjoy a visit to The National Railway Museum, seeing a vast collection of trains dating back over 50 years. We'll even treat you to a cream tea in the Great Hall Cafe.
