Catch Up with Kate: Poorly PhoenixBy Kate Bosley -
We are back from our holiday in Florida without Phoenix.
I am pleased to be back with her, the white stick is now not needed and I’m back to using Phoenix’s support. After a couple of weeks all was not well. Phoenix was sick all over the place and she also had diarrhoea.
The truth is she has been sick before but each time we have found a different excuse. One time it was maybe that she had drunk pond water that wasn’t clean. The next time may have been down to stress as she was looked after by someone new. She continued to be ill but each time the cause was uncertain. Of course, we had Guidedog and the vet’s support and advice.
She had been bad for a few days while we were away and it happened again once we got home, so this time the vet kept her in for a day or so.
We are hoping it's an allergy to her diet so we are trying something new. Nobody has said so but I am worried she will have something which stops her from being well enough to be a guide dog. What would I do without her? I adore her! I value her!
I know I have got to hope it will be sorted and, statistically, its likely to be. But I am the sort of person who assumes the worst and so I worry.
Let’s all hope she will get sorted so she can continue to guide me!!
