City Through the Glass
By Daisy Sunderalingam -Looking out over London is best experienced from the top of London’s highest viewing platform. This attraction is accessible for all with lifts to each level, plenty of space and places to sit; take a load off and enjoy the views of London. In all, The Shard is a great place to visit for those with mobility issues.
I did not visit at a busy time so I cannot comment on whether you can bypass the queues for the lifts. However, everything seemed to be run very efficiently so I can’t imagine this would be a problem if you have trouble standing. Once you purchase your tickets online you can choose a 30 minute time slot to enter and stroll around the platforms, taking in a 360 view of the city at your leisure.
In my opinion, there wasn’t anything I felt that needed improving. Whenever venturing somewhere unfamiliar, I like to double check that I can manage whatever challenges might crop up. At The Shard, the route for visitors has been well thought out and there is no need to plan anything, factor in extra time or pit stops – everything was pretty seamless and very enjoyable!
