Meet Phil Friend
By Phil Friend -Before we get into travel paradise, can you tell the readers a bit about yourself?
My name is Phil Friend I had polio as a very young child and I’m a full-time wheelchair user. I’m married I have four grown up children and five grandchildren. I’ve run a disability consultancy business for the last 30 years. I'm a Chelsea supporter, I own my own motorhome and love travelling.
What 3 words would you use to describe travel and what it means to you?
Adventure, exploration and education
If you were a country what country would you be and why?
Estonia. An incredibly resilient country, having been occupied for hundreds of years by various neighbours including the Soviet Union. It's people are friendly welcoming and resourceful. The people have a deep respect for the land and for its resources.
What's your funniest travel moment?
Travelling on a narrow boat and being stuck between the cabin and the deck on a broken platform lift!
Where have you been where you felt most home, away from home?
Vancouver British Columbia
Where have you visited that you could see yourself living?

What life advice would you have given yourself five years ago?
Enjoy every day as if it were your last.
Where do you hope to visit in five years time?
Iceland, St Petersburg and Alaska
Which book would you recommend to take travelling?
Lord of the Rings
Would you rather go into space or explore the depths of the ocean?
The depths of the ocean as I suspect there is a lot more going on than there is in outer space.
What's the craziest activity you did abroad?
Camping in Botswana with hyenas walking round the tent!
